A couple months ago, I noticed a bump on Henry's neck. We ended up taking him to his pediatrician, Dr. Eidson, and then we were referred to a pediatric surgeon, Dr. Lovvorn, at Vanderbilt.
Exploring Vanderbilt Children's Hospital
Henry had to have an ultra sound done to determine what exactly this bump was. It was not all smiles while having it completed, but watching Elmo always helps!
So after a busy afternoon at Vandy, we went to Ben and Jerry's for yummy ice cream.

So after the initial consult with the surgeon, we were told Henry had a thyroglossal duct cyst. This was a 2 hour procedure, which caused James and I to be pretty nervous!
So we tried to help Henry by 'preparing' for the doctor/surgery.
We played doctor and watched lots of Elmo goes to the doctor.
I'm telling you, Elmo always helps!!!
Getting ready for surgery
with all of his favorite friends :-)
So I still haven't gotten to the BEST part! Henry ended up having a dermoid cyst, just a regular little cyst! So the surgery took only about 30 minutes and wasn't as invasive at all. He has a little incision on his neck and that is it.
Praise be to God!!!!
We were able to see our sweet boy and do our best to comfort him after he woke up from the anesthesia.
After he woke up some, he was able to eat a popsicle and drink some juice so we could GO HOME!!
He slept ALL afternoon, but then he had a yummy surprise when he woke up.
A Cars cupcake and ice cream!
He wasn't on any diet restrictions, so we thought we should celebrate with yummy treats!
Henry said Happy Birthday! when he saw the cake and ice cream. We told him it was 'Thankful Day' because we are so thankful for our happy, healthy, sweet boy!!!
So blessed with this sweet boy....and all of his special friends (Lovie, Mickey, Donald, and Elmo) that helped him get through the day!!!
